Melissa and Logan are possibly the sweetest, coolest couple ever! John and I first met Melissa at the bridal show last June. What we learned from that first meeting is that she’s definitely better at math than John. We also learned that she could probably be our best friend and that was totally confirmed once we met Logan for their engagement session.
Cute story alert!!
Melissa and Logan first met when they were both working at Make a Wish. Logan worked in IT and was called in to fix Melissa’s computer/printer issue. Apparently he had quite a difficult time and had to keep coming back to fix it because the darn thing just refused to work! At the time, Melissa was completely dumbfounded as to why the IT guy couldn’t fix this simple issue. Eventually he managed to ask her for a date and months later she found out that he could’ve completely fixed her computer issue. He didn’t though because he wanted to spend more time with her. Awwww! His masterplan completely worked.
A note about their engagement session as well… it was bloody hot. Not just a little bit hot. It was like 110 degrees hot while being completely surrounded by monsoons which made it like 95% humidity, or at least it felt like that. They were both fantastic troopers about it and handled the heat far more gracefully than I did. Let’s just say I’m glad I wore a dark sleeveless shirt.
Melissa and Logan are getting married on February 29, 2016 (leap day) and I couldn’t be more excited to shoot their wedding! Fingers crossed for the 1 year anniversary super secret photoshoot.
My long time photographer friend Bret Thompsett visited the Phoenix area last weekend. He originally hails from Cape Town, South Africa and now has the pleasure of living in Honolulu, Oahu. Jealous yet? Yeah, me neither… ahem.
We got to check out some cool spots (visit Thirdspace for great vibe and live music) and explore Downtown Phoenix. This is my favorite part of the wider Phoenix area. Great architecture with a bit of history and some of the coolest warehouses around. We met the owner of one of the warehouses and he was kind enough to let us inside to have a look and take a few photos. If you know me, you’ll know I was like a kid in a candy store! Can’t wait to go back and shoot at this location!
He managed to snap a few of me as well, but I’ll share those another time!
One of the things I love about working with Melissa is being able to accompany brides and grooms in all sorts of weddings, from huge, 600-guest affairs with extensive wedding parties to elopements that involve just the bride and groom. And in both cases, we the photographers are with the happy couple throughout their events! No wonder we say it’s important to choose the right wedding photographer.
Anyway, the wedding of Anke & Marius was one of the latter types. They flew from Berlin, Germany to Las Vegas, Nevada with their son Philip to enjoy warm, sunny weather and the Vegas experience. We travelled in style: I rented a limo for them – an awesome stretch Escalade – and went on a tour of the Strip and Downtown. They got married at one of those great little wedding chapels (Elvis was not involved on this occasion). The day ended with shoes thrown off back at their hotel room at the Cosmopolitan just after sunset, on a balcony overlooking the dancing fountains at Bellagio.
It was great to meet the fabulous couple and their son (who was really really stoked to meet Spiderman!) and to spend this memorable afternoon with them in Vegas. Here’s a few shots from the day.
Aller guten Dinge sind drei!
