We get to photograph this lovely couples wedding in less than two weeks! Lauren and Scott had impeccable taste when choosing the location of their engagement shoot. Timing was amazing as well because WOW… look at that sunset!
This was the first time I’ve had the please of shooting in the Botanical Gardens in Phoenix and you can rest assured, it won’t be the last. Lauren is going to be such a beautiful bride and I can’t wait to see how their wedding day unfolds! Congratulations to you both and we’ll see you soon!
What a lovely family! We spent the afternoon/evening with the Janecek family in the Havasu Foothills where they live. When I first spoke with Janessa about her vision for the shoot, she mentioned she wanted the raw desert as the backdrop. It’s amazing how many portrait shoot requests I receive with a location request of grass, trees, greenery etc. When you live in the desert southwest this can be a tall order. I love that they embrace the beauty of where they live.
We had a great time chasing around the kids. We try and get a few of the traditional portraits in, but mostly spend our time letting the kids be kids. In this case, that meant placing a rock on your brothers head and searching for the best sticks. These are how memories are made!
John and I had scoped out a great spot during lunchtime along the Colorado River. Below the dam the river fluctuates quite a bit and during lunch it was perfect! The water was low enough that Hailey could walk out into the center of the river and essentially it would look as though she were walking on water. As cool as that sounds though… I’m glad it didn’t work out. By that evening the river was at it’s normal level and we had to think on our toes. It’s not that hard though with a young women as beautiful as Hailey. High school seniors are so fantastic to work with because I tell them to do anything and they just do it! Haha! Wade out into the water; walk through those prickly bushes; keep that smile even though mosquitos are eating us alive! Great job Hailey, your photos look fabulous.
I was excited to photograph this wedding just a few minutes into meeting Kristie and Mike for the first time! Their wedding seemed to be the perfect mix of classic elegance meets laid back party on the Colorado River! You might not think that those two could mix, but if you’ve ever visited the river then you know its entirely possible!
The wedding was at the BlueWater Resort and we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. The ceremony was held on the island with the river and Mohave Desert as a stunning backdrop. Kristie wore fabulous heels and walked down possibly the longest aisle ever. I couldn’t have walked five feet in them! The arch for the ceremony was made by Mike himself! It’s such a beautiful piece of art.I have to admit I’m a tad jealous of his mad welding skills.
The twinkly dance floor was packed for the entire night. Everyone seemed to have the moves, from the toddlers to the bride and groom’s grandparents.
Kristie and Mike still have a trash the dress session coming up and I have big plans for the both of them! I can’t wait to work with these two again very soon.
Congratulations Kristie and Mike, we had a blast at your wedding!
