I’ve actually known Stacy since she was a little girl. That makes me sound older than I actually am, but I was just a young girl myself! I would sometimes tag along with a friend for horseback riding lessons that her mom gave. It’s a different experience photographing a wedding when you know most of the guests! Our good friend Josh was even the officiant! I always like to get comfy with the couples I’m working with and have fun with the guests, but it’s so nice and relaxing being around familiar faces.
This was such a romantic and simple day. The details were delicate. It could’ve been a little too warm but we were blessed with the perfect breeze. The location was at a clubhouse that doesn’t get much use anymore, but it really should! It was the perfect backdrop for Stacy’s style.
I can’t wait to share the rest of the images with Stacy and Cody! John and I both enjoyed ourselves immensely.
I was excited to photograph this wedding just a few minutes into meeting Kristie and Mike for the first time! Their wedding seemed to be the perfect mix of classic elegance meets laid back party on the Colorado River! You might not think that those two could mix, but if you’ve ever visited the river then you know its entirely possible!
The wedding was at the BlueWater Resort and we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. The ceremony was held on the island with the river and Mohave Desert as a stunning backdrop. Kristie wore fabulous heels and walked down possibly the longest aisle ever. I couldn’t have walked five feet in them! The arch for the ceremony was made by Mike himself! It’s such a beautiful piece of art.I have to admit I’m a tad jealous of his mad welding skills.
The twinkly dance floor was packed for the entire night. Everyone seemed to have the moves, from the toddlers to the bride and groom’s grandparents.
Kristie and Mike still have a trash the dress session coming up and I have big plans for the both of them! I can’t wait to work with these two again very soon.
Congratulations Kristie and Mike, we had a blast at your wedding!
Had a great time with Hank and his family a couple weeks ago out on the Colorado River. They were visiting from Idaho (they have a vacation home in the area) and decided they wanted fun river portraits. The perfect senior photos are ones that reflect the interests of the teens I’m photographing. It’s such a hard life when they tell you they like to wake surf. Darn… I guess we’ll have to spend an evening on the boat with you.
Silly me forgot to bring a pair of shorts for this session and I ended up soaked in river water up to my thighs. The water is still a bit chilly for my tastes but it was totally worth it. We grabbed some great shots and I look forward to working with Hank and his family again this summer! Can’t wait!
This wedding was a blast! Jackie and Drake’s day was all kinds of awesome; this is a really fun (and well organized) group. If Jackie ever decides she needs a career change, she would make an excellent wedding planner! Every detail was thought of and the whole day ran so smoothly. It was a beautiful day on the lake and who doesn’t love a boat ride to the reception?! I had a huge smile throughout the whole day! Ok, that’s probably a lie since I have a horrible frowny face when I’m concentrating, but I was totally smiling on the inside.
I love all sorts of weddings, but I especially love weddings that have such a palpable enjoyment vibe! Jackie’s dad totally owned the dance floor and the cake cutting. It’s not often I get a bride and groom willing to smush the cake in each other’s faces. (Is smush a word?) I loved it. Hint: Cake smushing always makes for great photos! (My spell checker isn’t liking this paragraph.) I especially love the shot of Jackie making an “ick” face behind her mom and dad dancing.
OH! – also – Jackie and Drake now share the same anniversary as John and I. I can’t think of a better wedding to have spent our 13th anniversary shooting. I found myself reminiscing throughout the day and loving on John just a bit more than usual while we were working. Haha!
